Perseverance. Discipline. Resilience. Philanthropy. These are a few of the lessons Chef Scarduzio has learned from his mentor Chef Georges Perrier. While many chefs worked their way through various kitchens, it was this West Philadelphia native that earned a partnership in Chef Georges Perrier’s restaurant empire.
After graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York with top of the class honors, Chris was immediately hired to launch the The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia where it won Conde Nast Magazine’s Top 25 Best Restaurants in the Country within its first three years of operation. Chef Chris also assisted with other Ritz Carlton operations around the country. After a successful run with the Ritz, Chris was hand picked by Perrier to assist with the opening of his new restaurant, Brasserie Perrier, where he started as executive sous chef and was promoted to chef/partner after six short months. Under Chris’s direction the restaurant received countless awards, including Conde Nast Magazine’s Top 25 Restaurants in the Country again, Wall Street Journal’s Top 10 Places to Eat French Food in America, a three-bell (excellent) review from the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Craig LaBan, Best New Restaurant Philadelphia Magazine, just to name a few. During that period, he was also asked to cook at the James Beard House on numerous occasions including being nominated for Best Mid Atlantic Chef. Chris’s passion for the business and his personal desire to constantly learn and grow led him to build on his success. He owned two restaurants in Atlantic City, Mia in Caesars Hotel & Casino (named Best New Restaurant in Atlantic City by Philadelphia Magazine) and Scarduzio’s Steak & Sushi (another award-winning restaurant located in Showboat Casino/House of Blues).
Chris’s unique blend of culinary expertise and business acumen coalesce in his current role as Teca Newtown Square’s Managing Partner/Owner and Chef. His experience at The Ritz Carlton along with owning and operating very successful restaurants like Brasserie Perrier, Mia and Scarduzio’s along with his relationship with Chef Georges Perrier and the Guadagnini family have put Chef Chris in the perfect position to develop Teca Newtown Square as a powerful presence on Philadelphia’s Main Line dining scene.
